Sir Alex Ferguson was transported to a medical facility on Sunday after feeling unwell at Old Trafford, just prior to Manchester United’s Premier League encounter with Liverpool. Those close to the situation confirmed the hospitalisation was a precautionary step for the 84-year-old, rather than a response to any acute emergency.
The former United boss, who presided over the club for 27 distinguished years, had been photographed with guests at the ground a couple of hours before the match began. No details regarding his current condition have been made available following his admission.

Ferguson was conveyed by ambulance from the tunnel area of Old Trafford to a nearby hospital, and club officials expressed optimism that he would be well enough to return home shortly. It has become known that the legendary Scot previously endured a brain haemorrhage in 2018, a serious episode he later addressed publicly.
Consultant cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra documented their pre-match meeting on X, calling it “a privilege, honour and dream come true to be invited to spend some quality time with Sir Alex Ferguson.”
After United claimed a 3-2 victory over their Anfield rivals, head coach Michael Carrick — who arrived at the club from Tottenham in 2006 and subsequently won five Premier League titles and the Champions League under Ferguson — offered his former manager warm wishes, adding: “Hopefully when he hears about the result it will give him a good boost.”
