Despite a difficult run of form over recent weeks — the England international has gone without a goal since mid-December — the new contract reflects a mutual commitment between player and club to push through the challenging period together. Foden featured as a late substitute in a dramatic six-goal encounter at Everton, a result that left City trailing Premier League pacesetters Arsenal by five points, though with a match still to play.

Beyond club football, Foden is targeting a spot in Tuchel‘s England World Cup plans ahead of this summer’s tournament.
